INSTALLATIONS

This 20-foot glass wall
art piece at the Rondo Community Library in Minneapolis,
Minnesota, features an installation of visual poetry that
includes specific works by Sheila Murphy and others.
The work was commissioned under the direction of
installation artist, Harriet Bart.
This visual poem, the
work of Sheila Murphy is etched into the glass of the Rondo
Community Library Entrance.

Sheila Murphy's poem, Three Chimes, was awarded a monetary
prize and incorporated into a public area called Poets
Pause in the Resort Municipality of Whistler, Host
Mountain Resort of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic
Winter Games.

This poem was etched in stone and featured as part of a
meditation area. The physical space encompasses wooden and
stone materials in which the poem is featured.
“Three Chimes” is a poem intended to be heard aloud.
The vowel sounds mimic chimes, in response to the place of
meditation at the site in Whistler.
This hay(na)ku sequence consists of lines having one word,
two words, and three words per passage.
